Carl Gwyn

Carl Gwyn, age 66 former resident of the Oak Summit Road and Cleveland Avenue Homes Communities of Winston-Salem, North Carolina was born March 4, 1951 to Samuel Nelson and Rachel L. O. Gwyn. He departed this life on June 7, 2017 surrounded by family at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Gwyn attended Carver School. He was a carpenter by trade and landscape entrepreneur until his health began to compromise his abilites to continue in the workforce. His spiritual walk began with Oak Grove Methodist Church and Community Baptist Church. He later joined New Birth of Christ Church under the Pastoral leadership of the late Rev. R. McCullough. Mr. Gwyn loved telling everyone about the goodness of Jesus. He loved riding his bicycle to frequently visit the elderly who he enjoyed their conversation of spiritual fellowship and wisdom. He never met a stranger and always helped elderly people with their yard work at no charge. His hobbies included watching westerns, wrestling and karated movies. He later developed a new interest in playing piano. Mr. Gwyn was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Nelson and Rachel L. O. Gwyn, two brothers Charles E. Gwyn, Sr., and Regan R. Gwyn,a devoted aunt, Mary V. I. Gwyn, two devoted cousins Wayne M. Gwyn and Veronica Gwyn Pelzer. Mr. Gwyn is survived by six sisters,( twin) Carleene G. Commodore of Winston-Salem, NC, Vanessa G. Galloway, (Jerry) of Pilot Mountain, NC, Druscilla C. Gwyn of Charlotte, NC, Zoe Y. Gwyn , Dulce A. Gwyn, Regana G. Linton, (Elmo) all of Winston Salem, NC, one brother Carleton D. Gwyn of Winston-Salem, NC. He is also survived by two devoted cousins, Vernon J. Gwyn of Winston-Salem, NC and Rodney A. Gwyn of New York, New York,. One aunt Marian Jones Gwyn of Winston -Salem, NC. A tremendous host of nieces, nephews, cusins other relatives and friends. Devoted friends Tim Manning and Evangelist Mattie Young. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 on Saturday June 17,2017 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The family will recieve friends from 12:00 - 1:00 at the Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangemens entrusted to Gilmore Memorial Funeral Service
