Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Booker Thomas, 87, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at her home in the Midway Community. She was born in Winston-Salem on December 4, 1927, to Robert and Thelma Booker. Mrs. Thomas attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. As a young woman, she married Jessie Lee Thomas and moved to Midway. During her working years, she was employed by Heckman Industries and Cardinal’s Drums and worked as a housekeeper in private homes. A lifelong member of First Waughtown Baptist Church, she had served on the Senior Usher Board and all culinary events. Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her parents; her husband; sisters, Louise Gwyn, Darnella Ray, Barbara Thompson and Alva Johnson; and brothers Robert Booker, Jr., Alvin Booker and Bernard Booker. She will be remembered lovingly by her children, Gwendolyn Bradshaw, her primary caregiver, Patricia Cotton, Sylvester Thomas, and Tawanna Thomas; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Levolia Washington, Betty Hopper, Linda Burgess (Roscoe), and Vanessa Keesee (Allen); brother Lloyd Leslie Booker (Robin); godchildren, Wilma Broadie , Priscilla Rowdy and Stephon Roseboro; cousins, Janice Ross and Jeri Wagner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
