MR. DARRELL DENARD WILSON Sunrise: July 21, 1958 Sunset: May 3, 2024 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8 ~ Family-oriented, faith-filled, loving, caring and joyful are all words that describe Darrell Denard Wilson, who unexpectedly transitioned from his Earthly Labor to his Heavenly Reward on Friday, May 3, 2024 at his residence located at 752 Beck Street, Bronx, New York 10455. Affectionately known as “D”, Darrell was born on July 21, 1958 to his loving parents, the late Herman Thrash and Angelmena Vance in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Darrell was educated through the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. Darrell was a proud graduate of East Forsyth High School. Darrell was employed by the City of New York, in which he worked in the area of Community Assistance. Darrell served in the United States Army. As a young man, Darrell played softball with several different teams. Darrell was a man of faith, which was shown in his dedication and participation within the church he had been affiliated with. Darrell was a faithful member of Thessalonia Worship Center located in Bronx, New York. Since joining Thessalonia Worship Center, Darrell regularly attended worship services and Bible Study. He also was a member of the Male Chorus. Darrell loved and cared for his family. After moving to Bronx, New York over 30 years ago, Darrell often looked forward to being able to come home and spend time with his family. His family was always just as excited, if not more, to spend time with him during his brief visits. Darrell truly cherished every moment he was able to spend with those he loved the most. Darrell not only often told his family how much he loved them, but he showed it through his actions. Darrell didn’t allow distance to stop him from showing his love, support and concern to and for his family. Darrell often called, texted, and/or messaged his siblings, children, and other relatives on a regular basis just to check in and express his love. Darrell’s unwavering support, limitless love and infectious sense of humor will never be forgotten and live on in our hearts forever. Darrell was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.. Darrell was preceded in death by one (1) brother, Ricky Wilson, two (2) grandmothers, Clora Mae Wilson and Eva Haney, one (1) aunt, Gladys Mae Wilson, eight (8) great-aunts Ila Phillips Wilson Moore, Annie (Early) King, Robina (John) Booker , Viola (Claude) Tillman, Eula Mae (Eugene) Benjamin, Pearline (George) Brooks, and Lillian Wallace, four (4) great uncles, Clark Wilson, Lee Grant (Lola) Wilson, Houston (Lucy) Wilson, and S.D. Wilson, and one (1) cousin, Glenn Franklin Wilson.Darrell leaves to cherish his memories: five (5) daughters, Demetrice (Deven) Leach, Angela Smith, Jessica (Ralph) Thomas, Tania (Tracey) Ward, and Lakishia Wilson, two (2) sons, Christopher Leach and Curtis “Lil Man” Smith, three (3) sisters, Kaye (Joseph) Adams, Verrina Conrad and Darnella McIntyre, one (1) brother, Herman (Buster) McIntyre, three (3) nephews, Joseph Brown, Michael Brown, and Pastor Tavares S. (Nakeesha) Vance, two (2) nieces, Brittany McIntyre and Princess McIntyre, twenty (2) grandchildren, A’lajiah Flippen, Jazaia Flippen, Devynĺ Gist, Jaylen Jenkins, Jazarie Jenkins, Ramiya Jenkins, Rayanna Jenkins, Jabreel Pelzer, Madisyn Pitts, Myriaha Pitts, Amaria Smith, Ambria Smith, Curtis Smith, Jr., Jaquan Smith, Kamiya Smith, Kendriánna Smith, Montrea Smith, Rey Smith, Jamir Thomas, and Jaylen Washington, devoted cousins, Maxine Gwynn, Debra Macbeth, Micah Moore, and Alfreda Patrick, loving relatives of the Patrick family, Smith family, and Williams family, devoted friends, Pastor Melvin Aiken and Curtis Hopkins, special friend, Deborah Velez, pastor, officers and members of Thessalonia Worship Center, and a host of cousins.
