Betty Lunn Dargan

Mother Betty Lunn Dargan was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2025, surrounded by her beloved sons. She received the ultimate gift of eternal peace, a place where there are no sorrows and no tears. Born on September 19, 1934, in Darlington, South Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Georgeanna Lunn. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Piney Grove Holiness Church. A proud graduate of Mayo High School, Betty met her husband, Mr. Brooks Dargan Jr., during her formative years in church and school. United in holy matrimony, the couple moved to Winston-Salem, NC in pursuit of a better life and were blessed with six sons. Mother Dargan dedicated many years of service to Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System in Cafeteria Services. Known for her "heart of gold," she was a selfless caregiver who extended compassion and kindness to all who crossed her path. Her faith was unwavering, and she led her family with deep love for the Lord, teaching by example to live righteously and treat others with respect. Her spiritual journey continued at Kimberly Park Holiness Church and New Faith Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop Lawrence Tate. Mother Dargan was a beacon of joy and wisdom. She delighted in praising God, gathering with family, and sharing laughter. Her guidance always echoed the teachings of Jesus Christ.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, thirteen siblings, and twosons: James Allen "JD" Dargan and Marvin Jeffrey Dargan. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in her surviving children: Brooks Dargan (Vickie), Bobby Dargan (Shirlene), Robert Dargan (Sheila), and Daniel Dargan (Aurenee); one brother, Rev. Timothy Lunn of Baltimore, MD (Juliett, deceased); eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great- great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends, including Mrs. Willie May Little, Ms. Mary Davis, and the late Mrs. Laura Brewer O’Neal.Mother Betty Lunn Dargan’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit willcontinue to guide and uplift those who knew and loved her.
